JPFmovies and our team of reviewers are dedicated film watchers who are fed up with Hollywood’s “blockbuster” cinema and want to provide their own take on past and present movie and T.V. productions. We here at JPFmovies do not discriminate about the movie’s origin–in fact we’ve discovered that many of today’s good films and T.V. series are now made overseas in places like Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and China. The JPFmovies crew promises a hard look at a diverse range of films from the quality to the crap. We are not here to promote movies, in fact we are generally so disgusted with what we see today that we look to the days of yesteryear for entertainment.
We love guest reviewers so if you are interested in posting your thoughts on any film feel free to contact us. The JPFmovies review site began in October of 2009 and has more than 325 reviews to date. We are proud to say that some of our reviews have even drawn comments from actors in or others involved with the film itself. We also have clips of each movie reviewed to provide the reader with some entertainment and the film’s context.

Re: King Rat. I played the Australian, Corporal Townsend, who kills his buddy to steal the diamond ring he wears on a string around his neck. He sells the ring to a guard with the help of King in order to buy medicine to save Jimmy Fox’s character’s leg. The reason most people do not remember a lot about Rat is because of Columbia’s dreadful move to cut the film after Bryan Forbes left LA, going to England to direct the movie “The Wrong Box”. Rat was originally slated to be an epic running about three hours – with intermission (shades of Lawrence of Arabia). People at Columbia decided to scrap that idea, and as Bryan had given the studio rights to final cut, Columbia gave the film to a wonderful editor with orders to cut it to what it is today. Poor Bryan. He got back to LA to find his pride and joy had become only a shade of what it was. Most roles were virtually cut to a few lines. My role ended up so reduced it’s difficult to understand what Townsend has done. (Eventually, in the real plot, I’m viciously beaten to death – great bit of film in which I did my first – and only – stunt – never do THAT again!). I was in touch with Bryan just before his recent death. We’d e mailed each other several times. Though he hadn’t been thrilled about what had happened – he said “But we all had a lot of fun, didn’t we”. We did.
